Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, on Sunday 12th May 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support. The performances are from 4pm to 7pm at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts, 12 Kent Street, East Victoria Park and all are welcome.

Verandah Folk and Roots will be run on this occasion at the same time that an Art Lounge will be running over the weekend at Victoria Park Centre for the Arts with DJ lounge music, interactive kids’ activities, creative industry representatives and showcases of local artisan producers in WA food and drink.

For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has John Talati, Gypsy Lou and a trio of John McNair, Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood. ‘The Perth Folk and Roots Club has a pile of great musicians at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts for Sunday 12th May‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

John Talati is a singer songwriter guitarist and harmonica player who has recorded a number of albums over the years. John writes and plays an interesting variety of music including folk, gospel and blues. He plays as a solo musician around Perth at venues including in recent times the Charles Hotel, The Perth Blues Club, The Osborne Park Hotel, The Pig & Whistle Tavern, the Belvideres Tavern and the Merriwa Tavern. John also fills in on bass with a select number of bands including Rick Steele, The Lovebites, Indigo Duck & The Gang of Three. John is a great supporter of Perth Folk and Roots Club.

GypsyLou is a two-part vocal harmony duo with guitar accompaniment, playing traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, original indie-folk songs plus covers of popular music. Carrie Lee is a singer/songwriter who has been performing music in Perth for the past 6 years, involved in various cover bands and projects as a singer and guitar player, and as a solo performer/busker. Her influences are eclectic, including blues, jazz, rock and folk music. Katie McMahon hails from Scotland, and is well-steeped in the traditional music of that part of the world.

She studied music extensively throughout her schooling and has been a member of various choirs. She particularly enjoys singing in the Scottish national language of Gaelic and revels in its unique traditional sound. GypsyLou debut six-track EP, Girl In Blue, was released early in 2018 and is available across all platforms.

"The Perth Folk and Roots Club looks forward to the next Verandah Folk and Roots at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts with John Talati and Gypsy Lou," said Keith Anthonisz.
