Haydn Allen

Hand in hand, I walk a younger self through the dark intersections of the sexual, the spiritual, the suburban. Illuminated by green neon lights, we pass by objects which shimmer and levitate, kneeling down to make offerings to the cloud, to the cosmos.

Reflecting on childhood and fantasy, When You Have Friends Think You Have Treasures brings together a collection of artworks managed by this embodied younger self. These objects and images are part of an ongoing body of work researching waste, the psychedelic, and the relationship we have to our planet.

Haydn Allen is a young artist living and working in Melbourne. His interdisciplinary studio practice culminates in installations composed of assemblages, videos, drawings and photographs. Haydn works towards a sustainable, low-impact art practice using found and scavenged materials. Recent solo exhibitions include Alien Party in the Swamp at George Paton Gallery, To Slash at Alternating Current Art Space and Telemancer V at KINGS Artist Run. Haydn is a recent graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts.
