The Yarra Valley Opera Festival is back this October, with a stellar international line-up.
Across 10 days and five events, you'll see the best and worst of humanity expressed as heart-stopping, awe-inspiring opera.
The Enchanted Pig - a delightful fairy-tale English opera with hilarious twists and turns, ravishing tunes and a story for all ages. International director Gale Edwards AM teams up with Oscar-winning costume designer Tim Chappel (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) for this Australian premiere.
Poppea - a new look at an old opera that dives deep into a hedonistic and decadent world of power, sex, tragedy... and gaslighting.
Macbeth - a contemporary and electric take on the Shakespearean classic that holds a mirror to world politics. Co-produced by Gertrude Opera and New York-based Monk Parrots, with two-time Grammy-nominated bass-baritone John Marcus Bindel in the lead role.
A Very Very Very Short History of Opera - a romp through 400+ years of opera in less than 90 minutes. Enter with open ears and leave with an expanded mind and full heart.
Held in an intimate 250-seat pop-up theatre, you'll be surrounded by the rustic charm of a working farm at Olinda Yering.
Feast on gourmet meals and wine by local makers and be bussed to and from the Yarra Valley for this unique festival—the first of its kind in Australia, just 50 minutes from Melbourne.
You'll be engaged, be moved and ultimately, be transformed.
This is opera, reimagined.
