Art as Meditation - Online Mindful Art Workshops

Art as Meditation guided workshops on Zoom, with a focus on the enjoyment of the process of making art: enjoying creating art from a mindful perspective rather than feeling the weight of a predetermined artistic outcome. Each week we walk through a new technique or piece, which usually has some repetitive elements, giving us the opportunity to really get lost in the flow making of our pieces. Rather than focusing on learning the technical elements of drawing, we learn how to draw in a non-judgemental way, as a kind of meditation practice.

As the classes are guided step-by-step, no previous artistic or drawing experience is necessary (around half of my current students have not drawn before, and are loving the classes), and a quality art supplies pack is also available.

Each class includes an illustrated instruction sheet, mantra or guidance, warm-up exercise (usually absurd, like drawing with your eyes closed, or with your left hand), the main guided practice, and then question time. Participants also have access to a private Facebook group for sharing work and asking questions between classes. Classes are small, and people are welcome to ask questions as we go.
