Bonnie Kay and the Bonafides is a 6- piece tour de force of jazzy blues and roots. Take an acoustic guitar, add a crazy-cool horn section, a super-slick rhythm section, flavoured with some immensely talented soloists and some quirky songs with vocal harmonies too. It's a feast, I tell you.

With a debut album that landed in the top ten of the Australian Blues and Roots Charts and spent six months in the top twenty-five, Bonnie Kay and the Bonafides have exploded onto the Australian Blues and Roots scene, performing at major festivals around the country, including Blues at Bridgetown 2019 (WA), Echuca Winter Blues Festival (VIC) 2018 and 2019, Sydney Blues and Roots, Docklands Blues Festival (VIC), Australian Blues Festival, Kiama Jazz and Blues, Agnes Water Blues, Roots and Rock (QLD), Jamberoo Music Festival Country Blues and Roots Festival (Cooma).

Bonnie Kay, a contemporary American singer/songwriter from Philly uses acoustic, finger-picking, slide-guitar techniques to deliver her own red-hot, soulful, sassy and sexy sound. Her Bonafide companions? Add Wayne Rigby on saxophone and flute, Catherine Golden on double bass, Calvin Welch on drums, Claire Hollander on trumpet and Illya Szwec on electric guitar and you’ve got a Bonafide Band with a capital B. That, there, is the triple truth, Ruth!

The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the Canberra region, jamming together for a great afternoon of live blues music.
