From confronting life on an uninhabitable Earth, to the surveillance capabilities of governments, to having the power to 'edit humanity' through our DNA and a world in which children feel compelled to sing for their future—these are just some of the emerging realities to be explored by speakers and artists at Australia’s original provocative ideas festival, the Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI) in its 10th anniversary festival.

Presented by The Ethics Centre, with principal partner UNSW, FODI will confront the here and now with its 2020 theme; Dangerous Realities.

More than 30 speakers will be featured, including whistle-blower Edward Snowden, wrongfully convicted Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton, acclaimed author and moralist Jon Ronson, commentator and 'bad feminist' Roxane Gay, American political philosopher Michael Sandel, activist and writer Masha Gessen, and controversial enviro-journalist David Wallace-Wells among others. FODI 2020 will take place at Sydney Town Hall—a nod to the traditional meeting and rallying place for communities, while creating a truly modern Town Hall meeting like never before.

Festival passes are available for sale from 30 January.
