Brisbane singer-songwriter and 2020 Billy Thorpe Scholarship recipient Harry Phillips is set to release his new single ‘Wristbands’ on the 23rd of October 2020 internationally by INgrooves Music Group. Sure to fire up the nostalgia inside every live music lover, ‘Wristbands’ is a timely ode to the joys of going to music festivals with your mates.

A local launch gig has been announced at Black Bear Lodge on October 22nd – tickets are strictly limited, on sale now.

Inspired by artists such as Amy Shark, Charlie Puth, George Ezra and DMA's, ‘Wristbands’ features that trademark Harry Phillips catchy chorus but its epic indie-pop vibes are a departure from his pop-rock roots. ‘Wristbands’ is the lead single from Harry’s upcoming Billy Thorpe scholarship funded EP, produced by Brisbane’s Alex Henriksson (Matt Corby) and mixed by Grammy Nominated and ARIA winner, Adrian Breakspear (Gang Of Youths).

“It’s a song about pre-Covid times, when you could go to music festivals”, Harry said, “I wanted to capture the size and energy of the festivals and add some earthiness of acoustic guitars, claps and sing along melodies because what I miss about performing live is the experience that artists and the audience create together.”

The EP theme is all about exploring life in your early 20’s, experimenting with who you are and being excited by the process, and it has pushed Harry into an exciting new musical direction, combining the best of his earnest singer-songwriter lyrics with an edgier production style.

Harry Phillips’ previous singles have seen a growing list of accolades and airplay, including Apples “Best Of The Week” Official Playlist, and being aired on The A List with Kyle and Jackie O, getting airplay across 119 stations nationally. Harry’s first single ‘Emma’ was #1 on Triple J Unearthed for 3 weeks, and was #1 on AMRAPs regional airplay chart.
