Jonah Grant – Beyond the Garden

The modern jazz paradigm with a narrative bent, ‘Beyond the Garden’ is a new project seeking to bring an aplomb for storytelling together with the rambunctious energy of young, emerging jazz musicians.

Drawing upon influences of modern artists including Ambrose Akinmusire, Brian Blade, Tigran Hamasyan and Avishai Cohen, Jonah’s sextet will perform a collection of his original pieces as well as compositions by John Coltrane, James Hurt and Joe Sanders. Expect a synthesis of melodically driven forms and lyrics, hard hitting grooves, audacious solos and odd time devices.
