Kafka's Ape is an award-winning play about a primate's struggle to overcome the confines of captivity. Red Peter, the ape, embarks on a journey ignited by finding his way out of the cage that he's been living in since his capture—a journey in which he becomes acutely aware of his appearance and 'otherness'. Directed by Phala O Phala and performed by award-winning actor Tony Miyambo, 'Kafka's Ape' is a metaphorical view on society in post-Apartheid South Africa and examines the construction of identity in the modern world.
