Local music for recorders and voice in January Market Sunday Concert.

The January Music on a Market Sunday Concert features music mostly for recorders and voice by Benjamin Thorn composed over the last 25 years including several new works. Benjamin will be joined as performer by Cecile Michels and Kees Grenyer.

The program will include solo works: Croutons XIII, and Three Follies for Ocarina; duets: 5s and 6s and 7s and Birds for C; several pieces for recorder and piano: Blue Wombat, Allin a’Dale and Don Quixote; and two songs, settings of poems by C J Dennis, The Ant Explorer and Hist! It provides a survey of Benjamin’s output over the last quarter century.

Benjamin Thorn has an international reputation as a composer with music performed around the world and published in Germany, Canada and the USA as well as in Australia. He is joined by two of Armidale’s leading musicians in Cecile Michels and Kees Grenyer in what should be a fascinating program.

Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Tea and sausages will be available at the Uniting Church before the concert.
