Ideas, Art + Music and Actions for Oceans

‘Science in your swimmers’ will be on offer at the second annual Ocean Lovers Festival at Bondi, announced for March 18 to 22, 2020 and presented by Volvo as a festival of Ideas, Art+Music and Actions to help the oceans.

Staged at Bondi Pavilion, the famous Bondi Icebergs and the surrounding precinct, the Ocean Lovers Festival will provide 5 days of free entertainment and events to highlight science and innovations for helping the oceans. Audiences can literally dive in to the famous Bondi Icebergs pool installation by the Sydney Institute of Marine Science which showcases a Crayweed forest restoration project and the Volvo sponsored Living Sea Wall ocean conservation project.

Beachgoers at Bondi can turn-up in their swimmers to hear from scientists at the Festival Hub Sunshine Stage in the Bondi Pavilion courtyard and join free science workshops for kids and adults. An Education Station on the beachfront run by TOMRA, the world leading reverse vending company, will inform the public about ways to reduce litter impacts on oceans.

Music, art, films, food, talks and stalls will fill the Festival Hub with entertainment over the weekend of March 21 & 22. With a focus on innovation and hope for the oceans, there will be music and slam poetry for the sea performed and a competition called Fish Tank, inviting people to contribute cool ideas for ocean protection plus a showcase of leading eco-preneurs like Seabin and Ocean Protect already doing good for the oceans through innovation.
