Online Social – VSN For Non-Monogamous Folks

We have a surprisingly good solution to the problem that we're all in the process of sinking into: Social isolation. One of the best things about being human is hanging out with other humans, and a lot of folks are starting to miss that.

Many of you have experienced our popular social event, ‘Curiously Social Creatures’, which we generally hold at a pub. After breaking you into small groups, we give you a structured conversation activity that has the capacity to cut through the usual social norms that hold us back, and give us very real and interesting connections with other people.

We are absolutely delighted to say that after much experimentation, we've found a way to offer this experience online aka 'Online Social', and it's every bit as effective and enjoyable as the in-person event. We've found ways to use the technology that make it feel comfortable and invisible; it's actually easier to connect and relax with people than it is at the pub!

The structure is a little more complicated than this, but in essence, we'll break you into a group of about five people. One person asks a question, which each person answers, and then it's the next person's turn to ask a question. This deceptively simple little game is at times profound, funny, intriguing, and surprising. It's a profoundly efficient and enjoyable way to hang out with other people.

After you've been in that group for about an hour, we'll have a break, and then put you in with a second group of people, also for about an hour.

In recognition that some folks are currently struggling, we're making some tickets free. If your employment has been hit by coronavirus impacts, or you've been diagnosed with COVID-19, then we have free tickets, and we want you to use them.

At every Online Social, we will be contributing two of these tickets, however we've found that other members of our beautiful community are making donations also; at a recent Online Social, there were eight free tickets available, which makes this a very real offer for all (If you'd like to donate to others, there's an easy way you can do this when buying your own ticket).

As at 23 March 2020, we're running two versions of this event. The 'Public - all welcome' version is for most people. Those of you that have done the ‘Curiosity’ workshop are welcome to join the 'Curiosity only' version. We will be adding other versions in coming days, so please check back regularly (see website link below).

We will also be adding additional session times, so again, check back regularly.

At this stage, you're welcome to enjoy alcohol, in moderation. We are likely to introduce non-drinking versions.

Tickets are released in ‘rounds’, where ‘round one’ and ‘round two’ tickets are cheaper, to encourage you to book in early. There is no other difference between the ‘rounds’ of tickets.

Obviously, we’d prefer you to be on time, but if you get delayed, you should log in anyway. We may still be able to add you.

This event involves use of your video/webcam. Headsets with microphones are preferred. You must be in a quiet room, without interruptions.
