Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 23rd August 2020 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and Oceanique.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live music with bluesman Kerry B Ryan and Oceanique from Walpole at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist, born in North Queensland and now living in the hills outside Perth WA. Kerry first picked up a guitar at age 13, performing his original blues songs as well as covers inspired by Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, B.B King, Albert King, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robert Johnson. Kerry started his working life as a stockman at 14, working on cattle stations in North Queensland and carrying a guitar with him from place to place, playing with bands from the age of 16. After moving to Western Australia, he started working in a local music store and played in blues bands for 15 years as well as doing the country circuit for 8 years. Kerry stopped traveling to raise a family and went back to handling horses and making saddlery. Returning to music in 2010 he released his first CD called Blues for My Sweety and has been playing at many venues around WA as well as over east. Kerry has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club. Kerry’s 2nd CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.

Oceanique, is an Indie Folk duet based in Perth. They have breezy and beautiful story telling lyrics and sibling harmonies fronted by twins, Maddy and Jess Larkman, originally from Walpole WA. This ethereal sound is inspired by the landscape and musicians like Missy Higgins, Stella Donnelly and The Waifs. The duo have tight sibling intuitive harmonies and a Celtic vibe. The pair have been gracing the stages around Perth, playing at Mojo’s, 459 Bar, Sonar Room, Beaufort St and the Sewing Room. They are very grateful to have had their song ‘Papier Mache’ played on RTRFM on the out to lunch program and have more single releases planned.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
