Today’s 15km return walk takes us from the base of Mt Cooke along some old forestry tracks to the Nerang Campsite.
Mt Cooke and Nerang Campsites were destroyed by a bushfire in 2003. It was started by lightning and the effects were devastating.
Mt Cooke is still recovering and suffered the effects of another fire in September 2015.
We have lunch at the Nerang Campsite built in a new location after it was destroyed in 2003.
