Two highly respected WA artists, sharing a passion for nature, have created a unique exhibition celebrating the majestic beauty of our lands.

A well-recognised painter and printmaker in the South West, Kay Gibson has a passion for capturing the personalities of her sitters, something that is strongly apparent in every piece. Kay also carries an embedded devotion to educating people about the regeneration of our natural landscape, particularly after bushfires.

“These works stem from travels through local bushland, South West and Northern Territory wetlands.

They reflect the passion I feel for the natural environment. I choose the sensitive qualities of paper to print my soft-ground etchings, made by using local flora. The painted birds - though my encounters are fleeting, become imbued with characteristics that I observe and re-imagine.”- Kay Gibson, 2020

Janey Emery is an artist whose iconic paintings of the South Western forests have captivated the hearts of many. Her paintings are tranquil moments captured on canvas, inviting you into nature’s magic, light-filled and serene, one can almost smell the forest and hear the breeze through the leaves.

“I strive to evoke an emotional response from viewers with my work, one of nostalgia for places and times past, bringing the magic and serenity of our South Western forests to people and reconnecting them to nature and its importance in our world.” - Janey Emery, 2020
