Live Music Makes a Glorious Comeback at the Sunshine Coast’s Iconic Music Venue, Solbar.

The announcement that many Sunny Coasters have been dying to hear... For the first time since the government announced the Coronavirus lockdown measures, live music will finally return to the iconic Maroochydore music venue.
The Solbar team has laid out plans for a 3 part series of chilled “Sunday Arvo” shows in the venue’s spacious band room. The space has been transformed into a lounge bar, furnished with couches, tables, and full table-service with drinks and food being delivered to revellers as they kick back and enjoy the show.

"It's great to be open again, seeing everyone for a beer, but Solbar just doesn't feel the same without our artists. We can't wait any longer!” says Solbar’s entertainment manager, Melissa O’Bryan.
“It'll be a little different, a comfy chair and some popcorn, but everything you love about it will be exactly the same! Mates, tunes, vibes. We’re looking forward to bringing in a new age: Sunday shows, early doors, an epic Arvo, and still home in time for a decent night's sleep.”

Tickets are strictly limited. If you’d like to be one of the first to enjoy a live show since lock-down, head over to Solbar’s website or Oztix.com.au tonight to snap up your tickets

2020 brings a fresh face and explosive sound in the form of electric soul rock powerhouse outfit SUNFLOWER.

The five-piece are the love child of leading frontwoman Kahlia Ferguson (fka. The Fergies) and singer/songwriter Lawson Doyle (fka. Port Royal). The dynamic pair were fatefully drawn together at Bluesfest 2019, as showcasing artists on the Delta Stage. Struck by each other’s raw talent, the two quickly discovered a unique musical connection through months of songwriting and performing together behind the scenes.

Fortuitously, both lead singers found themselves standing in the ruins of their respective bands within a week of each other. Instead of retreating to lick their wounds, the concept of a brand new project featuring their paradoxical musicality and seductive mystique quickly came to life.

Emerging from Brisbane, SUNFLOWER are the perfect storm of soul, pop and rock in a stifling musical climate. The band features powerful, seasoned performances by Lawson Doyle (vocals/guitar), Kahlia Ferguson (vocals/keys/guitar), Dan Ferguson (lead guitar), Willow Keith (bass) and Luke Woods (drums).

Collectively they have shared stages with the likes of Dead Kennedys (US), Wolfmother, Supersuckers (US), Powderfinger, Jet, Missy Higgins, Busby Marou, Sheppard, The Cat Empire, and The Jungle Giants. The band members have showcased across sizeable public events such as Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, St Kilda Fest, Caloundra Music Fest, Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival and more.

Their engaging repertoire moves effortlessly through the sultry swagger of Kahlia's blues and the high-voltage energy of Lawson's rock & roll. Their blend of their soaring Oasis melodies and evocative Fleetwood Mac chemistry resonates with audiences of all walks of life, who are drawn to SUNFLOWER and their exciting fusion of flavours.

The band are in high demand, having already proven their wide contemporary appeal off the back of their SOLD-OUT debut headline show in February at Melbourne’s Bar Open. Already this year they’ve performed on the main stages of St Kilda Fest, Mordialloc Fest, and Knox Fest in Victoria, as well as recently making their hometown debut at Brisbane’s Beerfest.

With one foot rooted in the past and the other firmly planted in the future, SUNFLOWER are one of Australia’s fast-emerging must-see acts.
