HipHop legends South West Syndicate premiere their new single “The Next Chapter” for 4ESydney. Hosted by DOBBY and Mighty Ash. This is pre-release party event kicks off at Hustle & Flow Bar.

South West Syndicate aka SWS is a hip-hop collective from South West Sydney. The SWS roots, originate from the 1985 breakdance and graffiti crew “Black Connection”. The group's founding members Munkimuk, Big Naz and Dax officially named the crew South West Syndicate in 1992. SWS mainstay Brothablack joined in 1993.

SWS performed 100’s of shows all over Australia and gained national radio airplay and TV appearances in the 1990s, and early 2000’s. In 2003, South West Syndicate won a coveted Deadly Award at the Sydney Opera House. Fast forward to 2019, when the South West Syndicate crew reformed and released their debut single “Back Like A Boomerang” with a renewed energy and a sound reminiscent of old school hip-hop greats of the 80’s Run DMC and Beastie Boys.

The SWS legacy continues in 2020 with the addition of renowned South West Sydney heavy hitters, Mikoen (Reverse Polarities, Daily Meds, Bomb Threat, Big Village Records), Izzy (Izzy n The Profit, Rock the Block), JPoint, Zeadala, SAJ (Tristan Field) and Dave Marsalis (Divinyls, Dragon, Archie Roach, Christine Anu and Yothu Yindi) along with the core crew Munkimuk, Big Naz and Brothablack and its 1990s members DJ Black President and Ebony Williams.

Rock The Block is Sydney's Premier Cyphers Night, featuring live HipHop acts and jams. On the regular, you can catch Izzy and Mighty Ash hosting at Hustle & Flow, Redfern every Wednesday night. Live beats, DJ scratches and freestyle cyphers. Local and international artists performing live sets.

This event is for the HipHop community with nothing but positive vibes for newbies to vets. A space for everyone involved in the creation of HipHop music (Emcees, Producers, DJs, Beatboxers etc.) to meet, network and refine their craft. If you're a HipHop 'Head' and you're in Sydney this is the spot!

Mighty Ash:
Mighty Ash is a singer songwriter from the Blue Mountains Australia signed to RAH! Records.

His solo act blends a unique variety of funk, groove and old school HipHop into a fun and upbeat performance. Mighty Ash has played in over twenty bands in all musical styles and is known for his broad influences, high energy and positive attitude painting a creative and colourful world.

Dobby:
Dobby is a rapper, drummer and music composer. He proudly identifies as a Filipino and Aboriginal musician, whose family is from Brewarrina on Ngemba land, and is a member of the Murrawarri Republic in Weilmoringle, NSW. Locally, he has performed at many events including BIGSOUND, Sydney Opera House and Boomerang/Bluefest, and internationally in Germany, UK, USA and Netherlands.
