We see signs and symbols every day in the world around us like stop signs, emojis and emoticons. Have fun learning how to use these symbols to create an artwork that communicates a powerful message for change and learn the fundamentals of good design.

Inspired by the change makers of Women Who Dare, use paper, ink and stamping to make a boldly coloured Art poster that makes a statement.

Matthew Newkirk is a PhD candidate at the Queensland College of Art and an artist whose practice often exposes the world’s injustices. His extensive teaching and youth work background allows him to quickly build relationships with young people and help them express themselves through different creative mediums. Matthew is an award-winning artist. His work has been acquired for the permanent collections of many national and international art institutions, including the National Gallery of Australia and the National Library of Australia.

Note: All workshop materials are included. All Kids@Adderton workshops follow COVID-safe event guidelines. There will be a maximum of 10 children participating in each workshop. All Kids@Adderton workshop facilitators are Blue Card holders.
