60th Birthday Concert for Benjamin Thorn

Armidale composer is celebrating his 60th birthday with a concert in the Uniting Church at 2:30pm on 31 January. Benjamin will be joined by a number of local musicians playing music he has composed over the last 35 years.

Benjamin composes in a range of styles ranging from avant-garde modernism to music influenced by folk and early music and the full range will be presented in the concert. His music is performed around the world, including in the 2012 World Music Days in Belgium and has been published in Australia, USA, Canada and Germany. The concert will include The voice of the crocodile which made his international reputation, as well as many other works, including, Ragged Robin, Canard-canard, Any Blue Cat Dances and Croutons VI.

Other performers will include Alana Blackburn, Inga Brasche, Steve Tafra, Steve Thorneycroft, Robert Jackson, April Kelson, Warwick Dunham and more.

Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Covid social distancing will apply.
