J&E Events presents, as a part of the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival:

Black Santa
Written and Performed by Emo The Comedian

Christmas is coming late this year. Forgive Santa, he was running on Black Time.

As a part of the 2021 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Perth-based Emo The Comedian gifts Melbourne comedy lovers his brand-new hour of stand-up, Black Santa.

Drawing from his experience of fleeing war-torn Ethiopia as a refugee, having no idea what a Santa is, and growing up as a minority in 90s suburban Perth, Emo The Comedian’s upcoming MICF season is funny, clever, and socially relevant.

Making a name for himself in WA since his debut 2016, Emo The Comedian is the 2018 winner of the Raw Comedy Festival, which saw him go on to perform in the National Finals at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Since then he has written and performed in other highly successful seasons including Not Quite Grown, Yet and Just Your Typical Aussie.

Returning to Melbourne after a tumultuous 2020, rising star Emo The Comedian is back to dig a little deeper into his experiences of culture-clash and offer local audiences a well deserved night out, lousy with laughs.

“ …a raw comedic talent and a must see for anybody who is a fan of stand up” - Fringefeed

“ …an hour of brilliant storytelling interlaced with an education on black culture in Australia and delivered by a grinning, natural comedian. It’s 100% worth the wait for the talent to arrive on Black Time!” - The Fourth Wall

Run time 60 mins, no interval.
No wheelchair access.
Suitable for audiences 18+. Contains strong coarse language.
