"Birds on Beaches" - join us at the 24th annual BUTTONGRASS BALL!

Lively Tasmanian and other traditional music by the HOT String Band.

Collected and new Tasmanian bush/folk dances dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of Tasmania.

All dances taught by dance caller David "Oddsocks" Wanless.
No dancing experience or partner required.
All ages welcome.
Come dressed for a ball or a bushwalk!

BYO water bottle and a plate of supper to share.

Show your support for our amazing shorebirds, some of which fly 15,000km each way to Siberia/Alaska and back each year, but all of which are threatened on their Tasmanian beaches and mud-flats, by people, dogs, 4WDs and wind-farms.

Information available on the night from Birdlife Tasmania (or see the website).

Proceeds of the ball will go to the Tasmanian National Parks Association (https://tnpa.org.au/)
working to protect our natural heritage. The TNPA is concerned that visitor numbers in national parks need to be controlled to protect the natural environment, which is the primary reason for having parks! Sometimes making a coastal area a national park attracts additional visitors to beaches with consequences for all the critters that need the beach.

Tread lightly on the beach, even if you stomp on the dance floor.
