Brekky Boy

“Few greater joys exist than hearing something that surprises the hell out of you – like music did when you were 16. Brekky Boy does that.” - John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald.

Montreux Jazz Award nominees Brekky Boy are a piano-driven powerhouse ‘jazznotjazz’ trio hailing from the South Coast NSW. Drawing on artists such as Tigran Hamasyan, GoGo Penguin, Robert Glasper & The Bad Plus, the instrumental outfit has carved out an invigorating original sound that incorporates elements of jazz, rock, minimalist & folk. This combined with a captivating live show has established Brekky Boy as one of the most exciting young acts to watch in the Australian jazz/instrumental scene.

JAHL

JAHL is a new ensemble co-led by Harry Sutherland on piano and Lachy Hamilton on tenor saxophone with Jacques Emery on double bass and Alex Inman-Hislop on drums. The band formed after playing in various formats as part of the Sydney jazz and improvised music scene.

Individually the musicians have been recognised as Freedman Jazz Fellowship finalists and BBM Youth Support awardees and have played with The Australian Art Orchestra, Matt Corby, Ben Hauptmann, Patti Austin, Zela Margossian Quintet among countless others. Harry and Lachyʼs compositions draw on a conglomerate of influences from the jazz tradition, French impressionism and chess openings. The music is treated by the band with a unique collaborative approach and a curiosity for exploration.
