To coincide with the opening of our new exhibition, Embroidery: Oppression to Expression, we are excited to announce that we will open late on the evening of 17th of June to give you an extra opportunity to experience this wonderful new show.

Join us from 5-7PM to view this beautifully curated TDRF exhibition of over 100 embroidered European and Australian works from the 17th century to the modern-day across 7 themes: Religious embroidery, Samplers, Animalia, Regency, English Arts & Crafts, Fashion, and Contemporary. See a variety of works from antique children’s samplers to religious vestments and hangings to contemporary high fashion couture.

Sourced from collections across South Australia, including loans from South Australian galleries, churches, societies, contemporary artists and private collectors, with many pieces that have never been on public display before, so don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to see them!

Delicious food will be available in the forecourt provided by Adelaide’s own Tacocat, while drinks will be available for purchase from The Foundation.

Bring your friends and make a night of it!

Jo Vandepeer, Doctoral candidate at the University of Adelaide (South Australian art needlework 1876-1909), will speak on the St. Dominic’s Priory Cope and the Banner of Perseverance, two highly renowned Adelaide made ecclesiastical embroideries.

Details:

Complimentary glass of wine on arrival. Children under 12 free.

Numbers limited. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase for consumption in the forecourt and Roman room.
