Friday Flick at Bunjil Place presents Gurrumul

Grab the family, get some tasty snacks from the outdoor cafe and join Bunjil Place for a powerful movie under the stars.

Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu was one of the most significant and prolific First Nation singers to ever grace the international stage. Blinded from birth, he fostered a deep connection with music and songs grounded in his Yolngu culture and homeplace of Elcho Island in far North East Arnhem Land. His debut album Gurrumul brought him international fame and recognition which he consistently grappled with throughout his career.

In alignment with the John Mawurndjul exhibition in the Bunjil Gallery, Gurrumul is a beautiful film about another Arnhem Land artist whose astounding career was rooted in traditional culture and country. Directed by Paul Williams the film casts an insight to a world of fame unbeknown to a blind Yolngu man from Echo Island.

The movie kicks off at 6.00 pm on the big screen in the Plaza. Bookings essential online. Tickets includes an item from the candy bar upon arrival.

Guests can also pre-order a variety of food options to enjoy during the movie at the time of booking, as well as additional food and drinks available for purchase throughout the movie.

Walk up guests are welcome to purchase tickets on the day, however, please be aware that if our COVID-safe capacity has been reached you may be denied entry to the seating space.

This event is held outdoors and will go ahead as planned unless weather prevents us from running a safe and enjoyable event. If the event is cancelled refunds will be issued to guests. Cancellations will be announced on our website and Facebook page.
