Our Easter Holiday drama workshop series has arrived!

The Easter bunny is coming, and so is Jump StART's workshop series, to be once again held at Darlo Drama in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Join us for monologue and duologue development with our senior students, and adventures to the moon and beyond with our juniors.

Early bird discounts available now so don't wait!

1. Outer Space for Grades K-2 (7th April, 9 am-3 pm)
Have you ever looked up at the sky and dreamt of a world where you lived amongst the stars? What would it be like to float around in zero gravity, to fly a rocket, to walk on the moon? Would you be all alone up there or would you soon find signs of extraterrestrial life? Would those life forms be friends, or foe? Join Lucy & Emma for a day of outer space adventure where you’ll create your own mini play and live out your best astronaut fantasy.

Skills You’ll Develop:
- Creative play
- Spontaneity
- Social and communication skills
- Confidence and self-expression
- World and story building

2. The Science Experiment for Grades 3-6 (9th April, 9 am-3 pm)
Whatever you do, don’t touch that beaker. You see it? Next to those test tubes and the bunsen burner there, filled with a strange purple liquid that seems to be moving all on its own. I repeat. Do not touch it. And for your own sake, you better go put on your lab coat and safety goggles! These holidays we are bringing together students in grades 3-6 for a day of improv and devising. Step into the science lab with us and get experimental these holidays (safety equipment not included, so bring your imaginations!).

Skills You’ll Develop:
- Understanding story structure
- Devising
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Performance skills
- Improvisation

3. Scene Study for Grades 7-9 (10th April, 10 am-4 pm)
This one day workshop is for students who love getting up on the floor and performing text. Together we will go through the “page to stage” process using classic Australian texts, and develop acting technique with the help of leading theorist’s techniques such as Stanislavski, Lecoq and Meisner. The day will culminate in a final performance in front of peers.

This workshop is capped at 6 participants to ensure a personalised and rewarding experience.
Skills You’ll Develop:
- Script analysis
- Acting technique with an introduction to prominent theorists
- Rehearsal skills
- Collaboration in small groups
- Performance skills

4. Monologue Masterclass for Grades 10-12 (13th April, 10 am-4 pm)
Every working actor needs a monologue (or 2!) up their sleeve to wow a panel at drama school auditions, school exams and within the professional industry. This one-day intensive is for our upper school students interested in developing and polishing monologues to have ready to go in their audition kit. Together we will take monologues from page to stage, starting with script analysis and ending in a final performance.

This workshop is capped at 6 participants to ensure a personalised and rewarding experience.
Skills You’ll Develop:
- Acting technique exploring prominent theorists
- Workshopping text on the rehearsal room floor
- Breaking down a text
