Savoy Opera Chorale presents seafaring songs from the Gilbert & Sullivan collection plus Arthur Sullivan’s dramatic musical cantata, On Shore and Sea on Sunday, 14 November at 3.00pm.
The concert will featuring upbeat pieces from HMS Pinafore and Ruddigore, and the rarely performed one-act, On Shore and Sea. This cantata tells of war and reunion and the theme of sorrows and separations that are always incidental to war.
The central characters are a sailor and his love, who are separated when he goes to battle, and later reunited.
