Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 24th October 2021 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling with a special 60th birthday celebration for the Club President. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Fiona Heath and the Jook Joint Band.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club is helping me celebrate my 60th birthday with a little help from Fiona Heath and the Jook Joint Band ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Jook Joint Band is a jug band at heart and they have been wowing audiences with their renditions of old time blues, skiffle and ragtime music in and around Western Australia for the past ten years. They are a five piece band and play a variety of instruments in the tradition of jug bands ranging from the jug, washboard, ukulele, 6 & 12 string guitars, acoustic bass, stand up drums and harmonica. Their repertoire draws from an ever growing list of originals plus covers from the likes of Lead Belly, Memphis Jug Band, C.W. Stoneking, Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Blind Boy Fuller. They have played at the Bridgetown Blues Festival, Fairbridge Festival, Boddington Music Festival and throughout the State at many other festivals including the Canning Show, Fremantle Heritage Festival, East Fremantle George St Festival, Waroona Show, Mukinbudin Spring Festival, Folk and Roots at the Perth Cultural Centre to name a few.

Fiona Heath is originally from New Zealand, Fiona brings expressive performance of original songs featuring acoustic music with jazz and soul influences. Fiona previously played with the Perth group the Dreamers and has performed in Europe. Fiona has been performing in and around Perth including the Pickers and Slidders at the Flying Scotsman, the Perth Blues Club, the Boulevard Tavern in Joondalup, the Gas Light Club and Gypsy Tapas in Fremantle. Fiona Heath has been a crowd favourite at past Perth Folk and Roots Club shows and is not to be missed.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
