March is already here and Perth Folk and Roots Club is ready to celebrate at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 28 March 2021 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Craig Atkins touring from South Australia and JemClak.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes Craig Atkins from South Australia and the JemClak acoustic duet to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Award-winning multi-Instrumentalist Craig Atkins is a ‘one-man band’ songwriter and performer originally from Riverland SA (Meru Country) and in Adelaide SA (Kuarna Country), but recently calling Mullumbimby NSW (Bundjalung Country) home, regularly tours the country with his set up consisting of various Acoustic Guitars, Lap Slide, Cigar Box Guitars, Didgeridoos, Harmonica, Foot Percussion and Loop & Effect pedals. Craig has performed at Tamworth Country Music Festival (NSW), Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival (VIC), Nimbin Roots Festival (NSW), Ocean Street World Festival (QLD), Byron Bay Guitar Festival (NSW), Peats Ridge Festival (NSW), Port Fairy Festival (VIC), Caloundra Music Festival (QLD), Wide Open Space Festival (NT), Gorgeous Festival (SA) and solo supports for Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Donovan Frankenreiter (USA). With influences such as Paul Kelly, Joe Purdy, Harry Manx, Xavier Rudd and numerous Blues Masters to name but a few, Craig’s live performances weave through various styles of Roots, Blues, Folk, World & Country, with dynamics ranging from chilled finger-picking folk stories, to delta slide blues, through to rollicking folk foot tappers and stomping jumping roots.

Clarence Bailey and Jeremy Boyd makeup JemClak and have being playing together for many years. They have served their time in many different musical bands and combos in Perth and beyond over the decades. Clarence is known by Perth Folk and Roots Club audiences for his support for John Talati. Clarence originally taught Jeremy guitar when he was 14 years old and Jeremy went on to record Alive and Kicking with a wonderful acoustic version of May You Never by John Martyn. Clarence has now found himself behind the drum kit backing Jeremy. JemClaks repertoire is wide and eclectic as their lengthy history together, playing everything from James Taylor and Chris Smithers to Bonnie Rait, Stevie Wonder and The Police. Music has been the punctuation for a very long sentence.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
