Exhibition Overview:
'For 'Rehearsal' (2016), I filmed the rehearsals and classes of the Fernanda Bianchini Ballet Company in São Paulo, Brazil, the world's first classical ballet school for the blind. The 32-minute video captures the process of doing and learning: dancers share physically, body-to-body information through sound and touch. Body percussions - fingers flickering, applause function as a sensitive, flesh-and-blood geolocation system. This intuitive and intelligent system presents a challenge to the traditional teaching processes of ballet - and its strict discrimination of bodies of different sizes, shapes or capacities.

The video has not been previously exhibited.

Pamela Arce (b. 1986, Perú) primarily combines ceramics and video to create experiences that investigate the body and the relationship between architecture and human geography - the intimate and broad environment with which we interact constantly.
