Wicked, the hit Broadway musical following the extraordinary adventures of the magical witches of Oz long before Dorothy dropped in, flies into Civic Theatre this March presented by Newcastle Grammar School.

The unlikely but powerful friendship between two very different young witches at sorcery school sets in motion a series of events with heartbreaking consequences. Glinda, beautiful and bubbly, craves popularity and attention while Elphaba, born with unique emerald-green skin, is fiery, smart and misunderstood. Despite their opposing personalities, the girls form a strong and profound bond.

However, as their powers grow, private ambitions and conflicting values threaten to tear them apart. A love triangle rivalry and a thrilling confrontation with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz puts the young witches on the road to fulfilling their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Featuring a host of astounding creatures including flying monkeys, munchkins and beloved favourites the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, journey through the Land of Oz with breathtaking sets and costumes. Including unforgettable musical numbers such as “Popular”, “Defying Gravity” and “For Good”, this spectacular production will enthral audiences of all ages.
