“The atmospheric music of A Man Called Son is grounded in a particular brand of Australian isolationism, evoking long summer days and small town tales of misfortune.”

A Man Called Son (AMCS) is the ongoing project of Simon Pearlman. Multi-instrumentalist and producer Simon initially created AMCS as a home studio project, which saw early EPs and albums recorded entirely solo, with Simon playing all the parts. A Man Called Son's current lineup includes the Dapper Darwinian Sam James (Guitars/effects), the Beatific Bassman Thomas Madden and Andrew 'The Jackhammer' Jackson (Drums). At the height of the pandemic, AMCS took the backing tracks from a recent studio session and bunkered down putting the finishing touches to their fourth album.

The melancholy, 80s-inspired jangly first single 'What We Had' was the first fruits of their labour, with the upbeat follow-up 'Plateau' released in late 2021. The new single 'Slowing To A Crawl' is an enticing, luxuriant ballad that is sure to whet the appetite for the album 'Timebombs in the Sea', which will finally see release on November 25. A collection of ten powerful tracks, every song casts a melodic, transient spell with sublime instrumentation that takes one into different sensory corridors.

After an exciting year of triumphant returns to stages across Melbourne at stalwart venues such as The Tote, Worker's Club and Leadbeater Hotel, A Man Called Son are excited to be launching their new album at Kindred Bandroom on Fri Dec 9, 7 PM with some very special guests.

Praise for A Man Called Son:
"With nods to the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, The Go-Betweens and The Church, ‘Plateau’ is a delightful near-four-minute journey of summery, upbeat rock, championed by intricate guitar melodies, endearing vocals, energetic percussion and incredibly tight musicianship." (Beat Magazine)
