'I didn’t go to art school but I did go to Socialist-Zionist summer camp'
Artist: Babs Rapeport.
When I was a child I attended bi-annual camps run by a Jewish Socialist-Zionist youth movement.
The Movement used radical pedagogical tools from the 1960s to create experiential learning for Jewish youth aged 8-18. As an amateur artist without formal training I continue to be effected by this education. I am interested in the way different pedagogical frameworks inform the interpretation and performance of contemporary art.
