The idea for Songs for Peace emerged during the second week of the conflict in Ukraine, from the deepening humanitarian crisis there, and in so many other places in the world crying out for a peaceful and creative response. This concert hopes, in some small way, to bring some light into this darkness through the songs and writing of those who have stood for peace.

The program will feature original compositions & arrangements including musical settings of Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and Palestinian poets, traditional songs from Eastern Europe, Spain and the Auvergne region of France, as well as a re-imagining of iconic music by the Beatles, Prince, Radiohead, Rachmaninov, Purcell & Avo Part. EKLEKTIKA will be joined in this beautiful concert series by Rita Woolhouse on Cello, Ann Lehman on Guitar and Matt Bourne on Percussion.

EKLEKTIKA is a 12-voice vocal ensemble performing an eclectic range of music and genres - from cabaret, festivals and pop-ups to more formal performances, including reimaging of classical, traditional, liturgical and contemporary music. Eklektika has performed at international festivals, toured nationally, and with professional orchestra, Steel City Strings; and recorded original sound tracks to documentaries featured on SBS and the History Chanel, as well as Chinese and Indian television, and most recently for professional physical theatre company, Axis, at the 2022 Sydney Festival in The Construct about the Melbourne COVID 19 lockdown.
