In this workshop series designed for 6-12-year-olds, our founder Meredith utilises her formal meditation training to deliver dynamic programs with creatively designed meditations that she has written especially for children. In addition to a focus meditation within each session, we will explore various informal mindfulness techniques through structured play, movement, picture books, visualisation and creative art.
Happy Little Thinkers will discover:
- How to use meditation as a tool for finding calm and relaxation
- How to use simple breathing and body scan techniques to generate a sense of groundedness within the body
- The power of positive self-talk and affirmations when facing challenges or noticing feelings
- How to practice gratitude and show loving self-compassion to oneself and others
Each week will contain a key concept embedded in a children’s book written and illustrated by Wellbeing Arc.
Week 1: My Inner Tree- in our first session, we will be exploring means to find a grounded centre. We will also explore simple techniques to support the question, what to do with a thought?
Week 2: My Bubble- learning how to use simple breathing and body scan techniques to generate a sense of peace and calm within the body.
Week 3: Rolling with Resilience- the power of positive self-talk and affirmations when facing challenges or noticing our feelings.
Week 4: Gift of Gratitude- how to practice gratitude in our mindfulness practice and show loving self-compassion to oneself and others.
Course includes:
- Weekly 90 minute sessions in a small group setting *limited to 10 students per class.
- Weekly email correspondence for parents that includes a recording of each week’s meditation to support your child’s meditation practice at home
- A Little Thinker Workbook to support key concepts taught within the course
- A private one-on-one mediation session for your child with Meredith
- Nourishing snacks and healthy refreshments are provided in each session.
What to Expect: After booking via our website, we send parents a welcome email to parents containing further information about the workshop and a link to a short survey. We use the information in this survey to best support your child and their workshop experience.
