Duke of George presents
Jessie Gordon and Mark Turner: Best Friends

Accomplished multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Mark Turner and jazz/blues singer Jessie Gordon have known each other for many years, since he was a mere slip of a 13 year old and she was a willowy redhead avoiding the sun at all opportunities. More than 20 years of friendship have ensued, with music as the cornerstone of their lives.

Together they have toured around Australia and through Europe, won awards at Fringe World 2019 and 2020 and recorded on six albums, including their collaborative 2019 and 2021 releases ‘Best Friends’ and 'Live at Kidogo'.

Jessie’s passion is old world roots music of the 21st Century. Her original work is a combination of soulful blues, harmonic gospel and joyful swinging country. Mark loves jazz and blues, and also brings a folk and pop sensitivity to his song writing.

The duo are a joy to watch on stage, their shared history and their love for each other is palpable. They have also started writing music together and this night at the Duke will feature some brand new tunes from their most recent songwriting escapades!

Doors 6pm, Band at 7:30pm
