Adelaide Italian Festival fan-favourite, La Grande Gita, returns this year, officially kicking off the festival. This fun family-friendly event allows bike riders to glide through the stunning surroundings of the Barossa - and it wouldn’t be a classic Italian affair without the addition of delicious, local food and wine.

La Grande Gita will begin at 8am at Calabria Family Wines, where all riders and guests are able to enjoy a hot coffee and cake, and energise in preparation for the day ahead. Participants can choose between four, varying social races including Mega Grande (85km), Grande (60km), Mezzo (44km) and Piccolo (25km), with each taking riders through three winery pit stops at God’s Hill, Cirillo Wines and Lou Miranda.

Riders are also encouraged to use their own vintage bikes, accessories and clothing to both celebrate and be fully immersed in Italian culture, and the history of riding as a whole.

Registrations are now open and are an essential process to participate in this event. To register, please visit the Bike SA website.

Check out the Adelaide Italian Festival website and socials to learn more about La Grande Gita and stay up-to-date with the festival’s upcoming events.
