Join Lawrence Mooney for an evening of hilarious conversation and comedy mixed with stories from his wonderful forthcoming book, Embracing Your Limitations.

Embracing Your Limitations is a parody of the Self-Help genre. Self-Help has been carrying along unchecked since Dale Carnegie put out the timeless How to Win Friends and Influence people and How to stop Worry and Start Living. Dale died in 1955 and these books still sell. Latterly we’ve had The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck and The Power of Now, 8 million and 5 million copies sold respectively. So I decided I’d get me a big old slice of the advice pie. It had been an idea that had been percolating since 1998 but bubbled up recently when I found myself holding yet another self-help manual. At the heart of it people are searching for answers and always have been. For the most part people want a quick fix too, simple answers to complex questions. No psychologist’s couch, no hard work, just a few subtle adjustments. So why not do that and have a laugh as well.

Embracing Your Limitations pours scorn on the self help genre pointing at and exploding the mythology of realising your dreams. Shredding the need to change, transform and activate. The thrust of Embracing Your Limitations is reconciling yourself to yourself, accepting your failings, working within your limits and being happy. At its little comic heart this self-help parody is actually a self-help book. Embrace Your Limitations stop competing, stop comparing and enjoy the massive life exhale that will deliver you. It’s time to quit and live your life on your own terms.

Kate Langbroek will be joining Lawrence on stage for a very special conversation and Q&A that promises to be both hilarious and inspirational. Kate is one of Australia’s most beloved media personalities. Her ferocious wit, playfulness and irreverence have made her an audience favourite in a career that has spanned prime

time television, top rating breakfast and drivetime radio, acting, scriptwriting and journalism.
