Luminescence weave lush string melodies and dynamic lighting in a space where music, light and art become one, live in the Old Church!

ABOUT THIS EVENT
Luminescence fuse beautiful neo-classical compositions with striking stage presence and bespoke live visuals, creating a space where music, light and art become one. Join us in the wondrous acoustics of the old church, surrounded by beautiful string instruments and a magnificent backdrop of the twinkling Brisbane skyline, as we welcome Luminescence in our first concert for 2022!
This intimate performance will feature a specially curated program of contemporary music from internationally acclaimed composers and Brisbane’s very own creative talents, including new original pieces from Luminescence’s forthcoming EP, Midsummer. These lush melodies are complemented by an interactive lighting design, creating a captivating synthesis of sight and sound.

ABOUT LUMINESCENCE
Luminescence are a Brisbane-based string group exploring the crevices between classical, contemporary and experimental performance. The group is made up of two cellists (Emma Hales and Anitah Kumar) and two violinists (Liz Young and Toukie Wood) who are passionate about taking their traditional instruments into unconventional spaces.

Luminescence are constantly innovating their performance through collaborations and design. As suggested by the name, they love experimenting with the interaction between light and music.
Since coming together in 2018, Luminescence have worked on projects with a spectrum of creatives - from visual artist and designer, Chris Mangos, to indie-psych outfit, The Jensens - and have joined the line ups of Jungle Love Festival, Brisbane Street Art Festival, GOMA Up Late, Yonder Festival and a sold out season with Anywhere Festival.
