Maddie Southall - Thoughts and Things

RAW Comedy State Finalist Maddie Southall is a comedian, actor and screenwriter. Perth-born, she cut her teeth in the LA comedy scene, eventually performing regularly at the world famous Comedy Store and Flappers Comedy Club. With a Creative Writing degree from UCLA, Maddie returned to Sydney to work on Channel Nine's crime thriller After the Verdict in the writer's room and as script coordinator.

When she’s not writing for television, she’s writing jokes. After selling out shows for her debut solo hour "Villian Era" at Sydney Comedy Festival and her new work-in-progress show “Thoughts & Things” at Sydney Fringe Comedy, Maddie is taking the show to Melbourne Fringe.

Thoughts & Things is a new outstanding hour of stand up comedy revealing the underbelly of her seemingly perfect past as an elite athlete. Maddie competed in competitive rowing for 8 years, representing Australia at the Junior World Championships in Rio de Janeiro in 2015 before being recruited by the UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) Rowing Team. To the outside eye, she was on cloud nine but inside the world of elite sport, everything was not what it seemed...
