SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s next beach clean-up event is scheduled for Saturday 24 September and the team is once again calling on the local community and visitors to the area to join them in collecting rubbish from Mooloolaba Beach.

The clean-up will take place from 8am – 10am with rubbish bags and insurance provided by SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s non-profit arm SEA LIFE Trust. Participants are asked to bring their own gloves.

The SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast team has been hosting beach clean-up events for many years to help reduce the amount of plastic, cigarette butts and other debris entering the ocean and causing harm to sea creatures.

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast has been running its community beach clean-up events on a monthly basis throughout 2022 and unfortunately there is always plenty of rubbish to collect. According to Belinda Thompson from SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s SEA LIFE Trust committee; “common findings include cigarette butts, baby wipes and fish-shaped soy sauce containers.”

Willing participants can arrive between 8am and 9.30am with registration on arrival.

The SEA LIFE Trust is a registered charity that works globally to protect the world’s oceans and the amazing marine life that lives within them. As the non-profit arm of all SEA LIFE Aquariums, the SEA LIFE Trust has a vision for a world where our oceans are healthy, properly protected and full of diverse life.
