The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) return to the Seymour Centre for a luscious evening of evocative music that will traverse musical landscapes from all over the globe. Featuring solo guitarist Giuseppe Zangari performing Nigel Westlake’s dramatic Antarctica, this will be a musical evening to be remembered.

Beethoven’s powerful Egmont Overture will set a dramatic scene to start the evening, from its ominous slow introduction to the manic transformation of tragedy into triumph, it is sure to leave audience members breathless.

TMO will then welcome Australian virtuoso guitarist Giuseppe Zangari to join with Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams for Nigel Westlake’s Antarctica. This incredible work traverses the immense Antarctic landscape with music drawn from the primary themes of the original film for which it was written, covering the ‘desolate grandeur of the pole, the life it sustains and human presence in the region, both historically and today’. Symphony number two is one of the most cheerful of Brahms’ mature works, so much so that it is often called his “Pastoral”, in obvious reference to Beethoven’s symphony with the same name. This vibrant work will provide a fresh and uplifting finale to the night’s global musical journey.
