The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Kerry B Ryan and the Jook Joint Band.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes back Kerry B Ryan and the Jook Joint Band to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Kerry B Ryan is a blues guitarist, born in North Queensland and now living in the hills outside Perth WA. Kerry started his working life as a stockman at 14, working on cattle stations in North Queensland and carrying a guitar with him from place to place, playing with bands from the age of 16. After moving to Western Australia, he started working in a local music store and played in blues bands for 15 years as well as doing the country circuit for 8 years. Kerry stopped traveling to raise a family and went back to handling horses and making saddlery. Returning to music in 2010 he released his first CD called Blues for My Sweety and has been playing at many venues around WA as well as over east. Kerry has been running regular blues shows at Ellington’s Jazz Club. Kerry’s 2nd CD Crazy Blues which has been getting airplay across Australia on blues programs and also airplay in the USA.

Jook Joint Band is a jug band at heart and they have been wowing audiences with their renditions of old time blues, skiffle and ragtime music in and around Western Australia for the past ten years. They are a five piece band and play a variety of instruments in the tradition of jug bands ranging from the jug, washboard, ukulele, 6 & 12 string guitars, acoustic bass, stand up drums and harmonica. Their repertoire draws from an ever growing list of originals plus covers from the likes of Lead Belly, Memphis Jug Band, C.W. Stoneking, Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Blind Boy Fuller. They have played at the Bridgetown Blues Festival, Fairbridge Festival, Boddington Music Festival and throughout the State at many other festivals including the Canning Show, Fremantle Heritage Festival, East Fremantle George St Festival, Waroona Show, Mukinbudin Spring Festival, Folk and Roots at the Perth Cultural Centre to name a few.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
