Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 28th August 2022 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Donna Iverson supported by Kate Jensen and Espresso.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes back Donna Iverson supported by Kate Jensen and newcomers Espresso to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Donna Iverson is a singer songwriter who is focused on melodically rich storytelling, acoustic folk rock musings and imaginings. Donna has performed in the sell-out Perth Fringe Festival “Brothers and Sisters” which featured the music from the soundtrack “Oh Brother Where Art Thou?” and has also presented a series of solo shows at venues such as Defectors Bar in Mt Lawley, Choo Choos Bar, Swan Hotel (Fremantle) and the North Fremantle Bowling Club. This acoustic songstress has been writing, performing and delighting appreciative listeners during a musical career that spans two decades. In the late 90s in Melbourne, she formed the bands Lunasea (shoe-gaze) and Dosil Lisod (garage rock) ensembles and performed regular gigs in St.Kilda and Fitzroy and Collingwood venues.

Espresso feature Fran Irwin on acoustic guitar and vocals, Pat Irwin on lead guitar and harmonies, Steve Byrne on bass and Glenn Fitzpatrick on percussion. Espresso deliver both upbeat fun and quieter reflective songs, with rich originals and their quirky choice of copies. Mixing through blues/country rock & folk/indie, with rich vocal harmonies, tasteful guitar leads & solid cajon rhythm. Their musical experiences are honed over the decades & draw inspiration from the best of local and international talent. They play at local festivals such as Gidgestock and the Guildford Songfest, wine and food venues including the Gypsy Tapas in Fremantle and the Cork and Bottle in Bassendean, house parties and the local folk and blues club scene.

‘As always we are also looking for up-and-coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
