They emerged from the fog of COVID a year ago to give the pandemic the middle finger, riding a container ship to Australia all the way from Pismo Beach. The Psychotic Turnbuckles have been coaxed out of semi-retirement in their beachside mansions on the California coast to Destroy Dull Sydney one more time.

Jessie the Intruder, The Grand Wizard, The Psychedelic Unknown, Count Forza and Gorgeous Karl Domah will be laying waste to two pretenders to the throne in Melbourne’s The Electric Purrs and New South Welshman The Dark Clouds.

Relative newcomers to Melbourne's febrile rock and roll scene, The Electric Purrs describe themselves as "un-neutered pests spraying fast, upbeat garage rock".

They were part of a prime bill for the launch of Grindhouse's new album recently, and have a digital EP of their own under their collective belts. Something tell us they’ll need more than that to ward off a piledriver.

The Dark Clouds have few equals in the high-energy, baby-lets-twist stakes, arising from the Illawarra escarpment with their storming proto-punk jams. They’ll be going down in a sleeper hold, too, so get there early.
