4.5 Stars - Radio Adelaide Fringe & Weekend Notes 2021

(Virginie the Frenchie)
"Bonnie beautiful voice and her BoyZ music wraps the audience in a farandole of rhythms: it is smooth, sleek, sexy, melodic… Simply Sade!"

This return performance of SIMPLY SADE has Bonnie & the BoyZ! performing two sets of SADE’s most loved songs and funkiest grooves of the ’80s & ’90s.
While ‘The BoyZ’ cook up a sophisticated blend of soul-funk jazz & Afro-Cuban rhythms, Bonnie emanates a cool and sexy ambience reminiscent of SADE herself.

Reviving a superb selection of SADE’s best songs, whilst capturing the essence of her undeniable, smooth vocal textures. Smooth Operator, Your Love Is King, The Sweetest Taboo, Hang On To Your Love, By Your Side, Is It A Crime, Cherry Pie, the meaningful ‘Why Can’t We Live Together’ and grooving ‘When Am I Gonna Make A Living’ all feature.

As a huge fan of SADE and her music since her late teens, Bonnie took a leap of faith bringing to the stage and fans here in South Australia a show of SADE’s most memorable songs from her first hit albums. With six of Adelaide’s finest musicians backing her and a debut show in Oct 2020 at Goodwood Theatre and Studios, then Arkaba Top Room in 2021, she found she was not alone in her admiration for this amazing Nigerian, Essex Born singer and her music.
