Calling all sparkling wine lovers!

Sparkling Spring is all about enjoying the stunning sparkling wines being made in the Adelaide Hills.

During October, selected venues in the Adelaide Hills will hold special events centred around sparkling wines. Each event is unique and special themed as either ‘Indulge Yourself’ sensory experiences, ‘Masterclass’ tastings for the wine connoisseur and celebratory ‘Brunches & Lunches’, plus two ‘City Events’ in near-CBD locations for those looking to keep closer to town.

Most of the twenty events are focused on the weekend from Friday 21 to Sunday 23rd October, with one event on 9 October and a few cellar doors offering their sparkling experiences during all of October.

Some Sparkling Spring events inspire patrons to ‘Indulge Yourself’ with bubbles; perhaps by painting an original artwork at Nepenthe’s Bubbles & Brushes or smelling the roses at Karkoo Nursery for Golding’s Bubbles & Blooms. A truly fine indulgence will be tasting the Daosa range at Tappanappa. Others will prefer relaxing with a picnic at Cobbs Hill or dancing the day away at Howard Vineyard.

The ‘Masterclasses’ will be as informative as they are delectable, delving into the seriously good sparkling wines made by méthode traditionelle to rival the best in the world. The Lane Vineyard and Sidewood Estate confidently show theirs against famous Champagnes, while Deviation Road and Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard focus on their most limited release gems.

Of course, there are plenty of ‘Lunches and Brunches’ ranging from proper sit-down affairs at Sidewood and Karrawatta, to pizzas at Artwine, food trucks at Nepenthe and delicious bites at Hesketh’s ‘Sparkling Snack-tacular'. A highlight of the weekend will surely be the long lunch prepared by Andre Ursini at Deviation Road.

For those looking to stay close to town, there’s also two ‘City Events’. Croser and Golding will take their ‘Effervescence’ experience to North Adelaide one Sunday in October, but will also continue to offer it every day at their cellar doors in Lobethal and Woodside. Barrister’s Block is hosting a sparkling afternoon of High Tea at The Feathers hotel.

As buds burst on the vines to signal the start of the growing season, what better way to celebrate Spring than with a glass of sparkling wine in the Adelaide Hills.
