Spotlight On The Metropolitan Orchestra

The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) turn the spotlight on themselves with two incredible symphonies at Marrickville Town Hall led by charismatic Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Sarah-Grace Williams. The performance begins with Mendelssohn’s bright and jolly Symphony Number 4 which is commonly known as “The Italian Symphony”. This work will take the audience on a fantastic Italian tour as Mendelssohn reflects on the delightful atmosphere and colour experienced during his time in Italy. Following the interval, the audience will embark on a profound musical journey of fate and destiny with Tchaikovsky’s formidable Fourth Symphony. From the opening bars of the first movement which are intended to represent a metaphor for fate, the work will criss-cross a myriad of states from anguish to melancholy, from despair to pure optimism. These two works shine a light on how incredibly written and passionately delivered music can take you on an emotional rollercoaster while leaving you exhilarated.
