Two parts comedy, one part political drama, 'Straight White Men' follows Ed and his three adult sons as they come together to celebrate the holiday season. They enjoy cheerful trash-talking, pranks, and takeout Chinese, then confront a problem that even being a happy family can’t solve: when identity matters, and privilege is problematic, what is the value of being a straight white man?
“‘Straight White Men’ is a family drama that on the surface looks fairly standard, but the play transcends psychological realism. [Playwright] Lee is wrestling with the meaning of straight white male privilege through characters who are self-conscious beneficiaries of an identity increasingly out of favor in [the] 21st century…”
Presented in the round, audiences are invited to don their jingle bells for Christmas in July and a dysfunctional (but funny) family get together.
Starring Evan Hollis, Tristan James, Justin Tamblyn and Brendan Thomas-Ryland.
