The Boite

Bella Ciao is a trio of Italian musicians with a deep love and knowledge of Italian traditional and popular music. The trio features two superb accordion players Enio Pozzebon and Salvatore Greco with bassist Enzo Ruberto. They were the perfect choice to launch a new collaborative partnership between The Boite and ASA. Known in Melbourne for work in many musical combinations, they are part of the network of Jazz musicians and singers who engage with European styles and tunes. Salvatore’s magical accordion playing is key to many Melbourne explorations of early European Jazz.

In BELLA CIAO, they play music of the ’40s, ’50s & ’60s from the Italian Peninsula. Styles range from Tango and Polka to Waltz, Jazz and Tarantella. The playful, tragic, hopeful and loved are common threads throughout their classically Italian repertoire. BELLA CIAO weaves them into a tapestry of music song and story that places familiar sounds in an informative context. hearing Enio talk about the times and places where the songs were born gives them a whole new life.

Enjoy an intimate acoustic concert at 1 Mark St. Fitzroy North, long term home of The Boite World Music Cafe.
