The Johnnys

It's been a loooooong time between drinks...almost two-and-a-half years, in fact. But The Johnnys are returning to Melbourne and plan to leave no beer can unopened.

Returning to the infamous St Kilda Sports Club in their first show in Melbourne since early 2019, The Johnnys are sure to provide spills, thrills and a hayride full of cowpunk antics.

And this time, they’ll be joined on-stage by Billy’s sons – Stacey and Lewi – who’ve carved their own rock n roll careers playing in a variety of bands including the notorious Burn in Hell and the newly minted Murray’s Bay Country Club (yep, you gotta see this!).

The Johnnys turned on-the-road partying into an art form in the 1980s, earning a reputation as the country’s hardest-working band. Two studio albums and a live LP later, the members moved on to other things, the Beasts of Bourbon and the Allniters among them.

But the lure of songs about departing girlfriends, beer and Marty Robbins proved too strong to resist and the reconvened three piece is now regularly touring across eastern Australia and New Zealand.

The Melbourne show hosted by the elegant Mistress of Ceremonies, Fiona Lee Maynard, will be a night to go down in the Melbourne music scene hall of fame (a bit like the last time The Johnnys played in St Kilda…). Yee, hawww!
